Sealed Bids for the Town of Reading, Massachusetts, ROAD RESURFACING AND RELATED WORK will be received by the Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works, Reading Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA 01867 until 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 7, 2015 and at that time and place the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud in the Town Hall Conference Room, 1st Floor.
The work under this contract consists of performing roadway resurfacing work, including but not limited to cold planning, reclamation, and grading at various locations throughout the Town of Reading.
Contract Documents may be examined and/or obtained, at no charge, on or after 1:00 P.M. on September 23, 2015 at the Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works located at the above address on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:15 PM and Tuesdays, between the hours of 7:30 AM and 6:45 PM. Bidders requesting Contract Documents by mail shall prepare all necessary delivery forms and make all arrangements necessary to have the Contract Documents picked up prepaid.
Each Bid shall be submitted in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and shall be accompanied by a bid security in the amount of 5 percent of the amount Bid. The successful Bidder must furnish a 100 percent performance bond and a 100 percent payment bond with a surety company acceptable to the Owner.
Complete instructions for filling Bids are included in the Instructions to Bidders. Wage rates for this project are subject to the minimum wage rates as per M.G.L., Chapter 149, Section 26 to 27H inclusive, as amended. The bidding and award of this Contract will be under the provisions of M.G.L., Chapter 30, Section 39M, as amended.
The Town of Reading reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any and all bids, for any reason the Town Manager determines to be in the Town's and/or the public's best interest.
