TEWKSBURY — On May 21, customers at the Tewksbury Market Basket, located at 1900 Main St., found themselves shopping in the dark because of an area power outage on Tuesday afternoon.

A utility pole was hit on Shawsheen Street, causing a power outage that affected approximately 2,000 National Grid customers.

Market Basket employees had to remove meat and dairy items because of refrigeration concerns, but the rest of the store stayed open during the loss of power. Emergency lights were on in the store for the convenience and safety of the public for several hours until power was restored.
