TEWKSBURY — The Planning Board met last week to address several administrative actions and hear updates regarding ongoing projects.
The board discussed landscaping at iStorage at 470 Main St. The board requested that the company evaluate their year-round landscaping.
“We want something to break out that [cinder-block] building,” said chairman Steve Johnson.
The owners agreed to create a rendering of potential landscaping options and present it to the board.
The board approved a non-substantial change request at 255 Salem Road.
The board approved a bond release at 1574 Main St.
The board approved an Approval Not Required plan at 54 Merrimack Drive, which subdivides the lot and attaches the new portion to Trull Brook Golf Course.
The board addressed a non-substantial change request at Walmart at 333 Main St. Walmart is seeking to use part of their parking lot for seasonal sales. The request was approved provided appropriate signage is installed.
Andy Street of Civil Design Consultants and John Faneros of BTGOG LLC came before the board to discuss a new site plan special permit at 2131 Main St. A recent proposal from the same developer for the same lot was denied by the board. The board confirmed that the new application differed substantially from the old one.
Board members raised concerns over the size of the development and postal access, as well as landscaping.
“We need something that’s both aesthetic and functional,” said Johnson.
The hearing was continued to June 24.
A hearing on a special permit at 1420 Andover St. was continued to June 24.
The board addressed a site plan special permit at 1037 North St./1547 Andover St./1553 Andover St./1563 Andover St. The townhouse-style development spans about 1.6 acres and will have three affordable units.
Both board members and residents raised concerns over the density of the development, as well as traffic.
“Numbers and reality don’t always mesh,” said Johnson.
The board continued the issue to June 24.
A family suite special permit request at 91 Northgate Road was continued to June 24.
The board approved a sign special permit for two signs at 1795 Main St. as long as they are continually cared for.
The board will hold a joint meeting on June 13 with the Board of Selectmen to discuss updating the zoning bylaws.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 24, 2019.
