WILMINGTON — Longtime School Committee member Mar­garet “Peggy” Kane passed away Tuesday night.

Kane served on the committee for nearly 18 years, plus a decade as chair. She had to step down from the committee last summer due to a health issue.

Just after she stepped down, the Massachusetts Association of School Committees presented her with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Kane was heavily involved in the town including in support of the library by serving as President of the Friends of the Library from 2009 - 2018. She also spent time volunteering around town.
