WILMINGTON — On Mon­day, May 13, 2019, Wilming­ton Police Department res­ponded to a report of shots fired in the Salem Street and Ring Avenue area in Wil­mington at approximately 12:45 a.m.

Officers on the scene se­cured the area from traffic coming or going for several hours until it was determined that the area was safe and the scene was properly investigated and processed.

According to a statement made by Wilmington Po­lice Chief Joseph Des­mond, “No one was injured in this incident.”

Police retrieved five shell casings from a firearm in the area of Salem Street and Ring Avenue, but no arrests were made. Offi­cers are still actively in­vestigating the incident.
