BURLINGTON — Last Thursday, the Wilmington High School Boys Track-and-Field team participated in the annual Middlesex League Championship Team and the Wildcats finished in seventh place out of 12 teams, compiling 45 points.

Sam Vince had the best performance on the day as he was second in the pole vault clearing 9-6, while he was also 11th in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:01.99 and 14th the in 110-meter hurdles at 17.83.

Senior Tyler Thomas once again had a strong performance for the Wildcats as he finished third in the discus throwing 127-06 and was also eighth in the shot put at 41-06.50.

Owen Surrette placed third in the pole vault clearing 9-0 and was also 10th in the mile at 4:43.71. Andy Lee was the third member of the pole vault team to place as he was fifth at 8-6.

In the running events, Aiden McGrath was fifth at 51.98 and Jake Danieli was eighth at 54.51 in the 400, while Greg Adamek was sixth in the mile at 4:37.52.

Rounding out the individual place finishes included Sam Juergens who was seventh in the triple jump at 39-10 and Colin Rooney, who was eighth in the long jump at 19-03.

The three relay teams also placed. The 4x400 team beat their seeded time by an incredible five seconds with a time of 3:38.20 and the foursome included McGrath, Sean Riley and Kevin and Brian Elderd.

The 4x100 relay team of Ankur Neogi, Jeandre Abel, Richie Stuart and Mike Fothergill were fifth at 3:38.20. And the 4x800 team of Adamek, Patrick O'Mahony, Surrette and Danieli were seventh at 8:48.14.

Fothergill was also 10th in the 100 (11.86) and 14th in the javelin (113-10). Stuart was also 17th in the 200 (24.92) and 28th in the 100 (12.42). Taking ninth places included Abel in the 100 at 11.79, Neogi in the 200 at 24.37 and Juergens in the long jump at 19-02.

Also, Rooney was 13th in the 100-meter hurdles (17.64), and in the 800, it was Riley 18th at 2:05.35, O'Mahony 20th at 2:06.05, Brian Elderd 21st at 2:06.06 and Kevin Eldred 26th at 2:10.53.

Also competing in multiple events included Dean Nally, who was 10th in the javelin at 120-01 and 11th in the discus at 115-05, Ben Packer, who was 10th in the two-mile at 10:23.51 and then 21st in the mile at 4:58.39, Matt Thomas, who was 11th in the 110-meter hurdles at 17.46 and 14th in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:03.82 and Max Duong, who was 16th in the triple jump at 36-00.25 and 19th in the 200 at 25.37.

Also in the running events included Nolan Kennedy, who was 15th in the mile at 4:51.49, Will Doucette, who was 24th in the two-mile at 11:33.47 and Matt Chisholm, who was 25th in the 100 at 12.27.

Finally, Chris Medeiros was 11th in the shot put throwing 36-07.

This week Wilmington will compete in the Division 3 Eastern Mass Championship Meet, which starts Thursday with the Pentathlon at North Andover. Mike Fothergill and Colin Rooney will participate in four events each, the 110-meter hurdles, high and long jump as well as the shot put. Fothergill is ranked second in the shot put at 38-2.

The meet will conclude on Sunday at Merrimack College.
